Arla extends award winning skyr range - the fat free, reduced sugar and high protein yogurt now available in new drinking format
Arla, the farmer-owned dairy company, has launched its latest innovation - Arla® skyr Drinking Yogurts, a new addition to its popular Icelandic style yogurt range, which has just been crowned Product of the Year*.
The new yogurt drinks come in a range of flavours including Mango & Passionfruit and Blueberry & Blackcurrant. They have been designed for consumers that are increasingly enjoying food on-the-go, and also in line with the trend for eating breakfast in the office, as opposed to in the home.
The fruit flavoured yogurt drinks available in 350ml bottles are a healthy snack made from naturally sourced ingredients which are fat free, reduced sugar** and high in protein
Sam Dolan, Senior Brand Manager at Arla Foods, commented: “We were over the moon with Arla skyr’s performance in 2015, with the product beating all expectations. It was a real category success story - we believe consumers are starting to recognise that healthy choices shouldn’t be solely based on low fat and that in fact sugar levels are equally important.
“Taking this unique product into another category is really exciting – we know that consumers are increasingly busy and are looking for delicious, yet healthy choices on-the-go, which is where Arla skyr drinking yogurts really deliver. We anticipate that people who love the yogurts will also buy the drinks, but we’re also hoping to attract new consumers.”
The Arla UK business has grown through the launch of product innovation within its new Arla brand, which underpins its focus on healthy and natural. In 2015, Arla branded products outperformed expectations by achieving volume driven growth of 5.2%. In addition to Arla skyr, other innovations included Arla® Big Milk and Arla® Protein. It recently launched Arla® BOB – a fat-free milk that tastes like semi-skimmed. Arla is launching an exciting new health strategy in the coming months to take advantage of the growing consumer demand for healthier products.
