Face to face with nature
Take your kids to work day took on a whole new meaning when staff at ASDA Newcastle organised a dairy trip with Arla Foods to let their children come face to face with nature.
The visit allowed the children to see the whole milk process from cow to consumer; which involved visiting a farm in the morning, then to Newcastle
dairy and eventually back to the ASDA supermarket to put milk on shelves.
The first stop on the dairy trip was Cockle Park Farm, Northumberland, which currently supplies 1.5 million litres of milk to Arla Foods a year.
The farm tour, organised by John Wright, farm liaison officer, allowed the children to milk the cows and even hold the first spring lambs, which had just been born.
Phyllis Fairclough, dairy development manager, says: "The trip was a great success and the kids really enjoyed it, giving them a better understanding
