Anchor Cow and Moo back on screen

Anchor, one of Britain's best-selling dairy brands, is launching a new ad execution as part of its hard-hitting advertising campaign to encourage consumers to re-evaluate their purchase decisions within the butters and spreads category.

The new 20-second execution - part of a £13.5 million marketing spend - will be broadcast nationwide from week commencing 9th February for two weeks featuring the brand's characters ANCHOR Cow and Moo.

In this execution, a smart looking Sales Cow tries to sell buttery flavoured spreads to ANCHOR Cow and Moo who unconvinced, question the product's butter content. Unable to answer their question, Sales Cow presses a magic button on his briefcase to replace the spreads with a supermop which he tries to sell to lovable Cow and Moo. A 20-second execution of the original ad featuring Techno Cow will also be broadcast during the same period.

Anchor Senior Brand Manager, Mikael Horsboll said: "The campaign has received a positive response so far and consumers are becoming more aware of the fact that most of the dairy spreads on the market don't contain butter as is commonly believed"

Anchor says that years of clever marketing by dairy spread manufacturers has left shoppers confused. They believe that their products contain butter, when in fact, most are just a blend of vegetable oil with buttermilk.

The brand's advertisements are produced by Clemmow Hornby Inge (CHI).
