Arla has been celebrating following its duo of successes at the Great Yorkshire Show which saw Settle Creamery scoop the prestigious Supreme Dairy product award and an Arla Foods Milk Partnership member's cow clinch the title of Supreme Champion.

Several cheeses from HT Webb also achieved recognition at the show, which attracted a record 616 entries from all over the country.

Webb's AOC Camembert triumphed in the soft category, Reserve Gruyere, was awarded first in the speciality products section and Creme Fraiche with Calvados also topped the table in the chilled products competition.

Having won its bulk butter category, Settle's Bulk butter was then put forward, along with all the other class winners in the dairy and cheese contest to vie for the overall title of Supreme Dairy product, an award sponsored by Wm Morrisons. To be awarded the accolade is a huge achievement for the creamery as it is very rare for a butter to win.

AMFP member Liz Wolfenden's Canadian - born Holstein cow, Wedgewood Colleen Lee won the inter-breed dairy championship in addition to scooping the top award of Supreme Champion in the dairy section.

The show was also a great success for AMFP, which had a stand at the show. Wes Abbey, vice chairman of the Partnership said: "The show provides an excellent opportunity to both meet and entertain existing members and to recruit new members and it was very successful at meeting both these aims. We had a lot of interest from farmers in terms of joining the Partnership and who will be able to supply not only the new dairy at Stourton but also our other dairies in Yorkshire.

"This was also the first the Partnership has sponsored the dairy classes at the show and this too was an excellent way of raising awareness of the Partnership," added Wes.

AFMP has also attended the Royal Highland and Royal Shows this summer.
