Arla does its bit for the environment
Over 80 trees have been saved by Arla Foods, Leeds as 350 Head Office employees prepare for their office move to Leeds Valley Park at the beginning of March.
A 'chuck out your chintz' campaign was launched to all employees just before Christmas, encouraging colleagues to clear out their offices and chuck away old files and paper work.
"It has certainly surprised us the amount of paper waste people hoard in their offices. This campaign has definitely made people brush off those spider webs from folders found at the bottom of their cupboards," said Bob Willows, head office engineering manager.
"Especially if they have been here for 15 years, like some of our colleagues," added Bob.
Skips have been coming and going at the Head Office site on Kirkstall Road and have taken over 2 tons of waste paper to be recycled.
"It has been a great exercise, and we have also done our bit for the environment. The campaign isn't over yet - we are aiming to save a whole forest before we move - fingers crossed!" laughed Bob.
The Arla Foods Head Office move to Leeds Valley Park, Stourton was announced in July last year. The company currently based at two office locations in Leeds, will establish a central network for all of Arla's operations, with the new Head Office just a stones throw away from Arla's new Stourton Dairy and Chilled Distribution Warehouse.
