Arla fleet manager number two in the country
"It was transport's equivalent of the Oscars," said Shaun Stephenson, national fleet manager for Arla Foods, of the national Motor Transport Awards.
He was shortlisted for the 'Fleet Engineer of the Year' earlier in the year and attended the presentation ceremony at the Grosvenor Hotel in London on 3rd July.
Shaun was awarded second place and considering there were over 600 applicants altogether and that this is the first time Arla has ever entered, it is an impressive achievement.
"I am a bit disappointed but still very honoured to be one of the three shortlisted in the first place. Arla will be entering numerous catergories next year as this is seen as the transport Oscars by the industry," said Shaun, whose workmates joined him for the celebrations at the ceremony.
Applications for the coveted award were judged against a set of criteria, these included innovation, efficiency improvements and performance.
The judges were impressed by Shaun's "strong plan and ongoing ideas", his "sound process management" and "a great deal of innovation."
