Arla Foods amba milk price to remain unchanged for December

Arla Foods amba’s on account price for conventional and organic milk for December 2019 will remain unchanged. When applied to the UK manufacturing price Arla’s pence per litre for conventional milk will remain at 30.19 pence and the organic price at 41.03 pence per litre, from 1 December for Arla’s farmer owners.

Arla Foods amba board director, and farmer owner, Arthur Fearnall, said: “The strength of being part of a European cooperative with global reach continues to be shown in the milk price. European milk production continues to show slight growth compared to last year, however, overall global volumes remain largely flat. Market prices have remained fairly stable with the continuing trend of rising protein prices offset by stable or weakening fat prices. Growth in demand for organic milk remains weak alongside strong supply across all markets. Demand for yellow cheese has increased prices, although Mozzarella and Cheddar prices remain stable.”

Graham Wilkinson, UK Agriculture director at Arla continues: “Being part of a world leading cooperative has enabled our farmer owners to drive the on-farm sustainability agenda, as well as invest in projects in developing regions and expand to meet growing consumer demand worldwide. As we grow, we remain committed to continuously developing our responsible practices and with customers and consumers demanding increased transparency and high standards, it is important that we work with sustainability across all aspects of dairy production from the farm to the consumer. As we seek to triple the speed of reductions in COemissions on farm over the next ten years our farmer-led initiatives, such as the Climate Check, have never been more important in showing how we contribute positively by looking after the environment.”
