Milk price for May 2023 will decrease by 2.65ppl (3.0€c/kg) for conventional and organic milk
From 1st May 2023, the Arla on-account price for conventional and organic milk will decrease by 2.65ppl (3.0 €c/kg).
This means the UK manufacturing price for conventional and organic milk will be 36.99ppl and 41.77ppl respectively.
Arla Foods amba board director, and Arla farmer, Arthur Fearnall, said: “Global milk supplies continue to grow even though farm input costs remain at a high level. The increased supply and reduced consumer demand is adding to the volume of milk in the commodity markets and leading to a downward pressure on price. However, the market is changeable and moving towards stabilisation as markets get closer to balance.”
Paul Savage, Agriculture Director for Arla UK continues: “Increasing milk volumes[1] and a sustained decline in shopper spending continues to put pressure on the farmgate milk price. - Arla farmers are paid on constituents via a manufacturing schedule. For ease of comparison, the liquid price is 35.54ppl for conventional milk and 40.14ppl for organic milk, based on 4% fat and 3.3% protein.
